2001 Mauro, Ribera del Duero, Ribera del Duero, Spain: 91

2001 Mauro, Ribera del Duero, Ribera del Duero, Spain: Dark ruby, fat tears. Soft dark fruity nose, velvety. Medium to medium full body, austere dark fruit, good acidity and intense velvety tannins. Reminds me to some degree of Gourt de Mautens Rasteau 2001. Surprisingly excellent dinner at the restaurant of Hotel d'Angleterre in Copenhagen. Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 13 for bouquet + 17 for taste + 7 for overall = total score of 91. From memory. Not blind. Decanted shortly before drinking. Generic Syrah type red wine glass

1997 Angerville, Clos Des Ducs, Volnay 1er Cru, Burgundy, France: 90

1997 Marquis D'Angerville, Clos Des Ducs, Volnay 1er Cru, Burgundy, France: Light ruby, brilliant. Soft Pinot Noir nose. Medium body, agreeable acidity, good balance. Medium finish, soft tannins. Versatile with a no choice 5 courses menu at Ensemble/Copenhagen. Nice evening. Score: 50 + 3 for optic + 13 for bouquet + 17 for taste + 7 for overall = total score of 90. From memory. Not blind. Not decanted. Generic Burgundy type red wine glass

1992 Gravner, Ribolla Gialllo, Collio, Italy: 89

1992 Gravner, Ribolla Gialllo, Collio, Italy: Soft golden yellow. Soft mature nose after nuts, butter, very slightly Sherry note. Medium body, taste of nuts and dried yellow fruit, dry Sherry touch, low acidity, nice tannins. Soft velvety aftertaste. This wine reminded me to some degree of the Beaucastel Roussanne V.V. 1999. The sommelier tried to convince me that this wine was over the hill but failed - it was exactly what was to expect from a Gravner Ribolla 1992. It was a perfect match for a 7 course shellfish menu (this reminds me of my surprise as a waiter in Sevilla/Spain gave me a glass of dry Sherry with my raw oysters instead of the ordered dry white one - also a perfect match) at Noma/Copenhagen. Again a nice evening. Score: 50 + 3 for optic + 13 for bouquet + 16 for taste + 7 for overall = total score of 89. From memory. Not blind. Not decanted. Spiegelau white wine glass

2000 Renacimiento, Rento, Ribera del Duero, Spain: 88

2000 Renacimiento, Rento (Tinto Fino), Ribera del Duero, Spain: Dark brilliant ruby, fat tears, tints slighty the glass. Cool dark berries in the nose, bit toast. Medium body at best, cool dark berries, nice fruity acidity, slightly bitter oaky tannins. Medium finish, bit fresh. Versatile wine even with fish courses. Nice dinner at Bagatelle in Oslo. The wine was recommended by the sommelier as replacement for the Roda I 1996 (on the wine list but not available) Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 12 for bouquet + 16 for taste + g for overall = total score of 88 From memory. Not blind. Not decanted. Riedel Vinum Burrgundy glass

1998 Faiveley, Bourgogne Rouge, Cote d'Or, Burgundy, France: 83

1998 Faiveley, Bourgogne Rouge, Cote d'Or, Burgundy, France: Light garnet, orange hue, fat tears. Clean soft red berries in the nose. Small to medium body, soft red berries, some acidity, very soft but fine tannins. Short finish, some if any smoky tannins. A generic Burgundy is always the ultimate test for a Cote d'Or winemaker and even more for a negociant: Versatile with food as it should be as a minimum requirement for this kind of wine, even acceptable with dried cod - no easy job for a red wine. I always wondered where the markets for this kind of wines might be - now I know the high north of Norway is one of it. Restaurant Hotel Clarion Bryggen in Tromsø. Score: 50 + 2 for optic + 11 for bouquet + 15 for taste + 5 for overall = total score of 83. Score83. From memory. Not blind. Not decanted. Generic wine glass (means with stem)

Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 12 for bouquet + 16 for taste + 6 for overall = total score of 88. From memory. Not blind. Not decanted. Schott Zwiesel Syrah glass

2002 Campo Viejo, Crianza, Rioja, Spain: 82

2002 Campo Viejo, Crianza, Rioja, Spain: Light ruby. Clean nose. Light body, some fruity acidity, bit of tannins, slightly rustic. Short finish. Wine to accompagny your meal, thats it - but the "best" fish restaurant of Bergen (self promotion of restaurant Sjøtønnen in Hotel Clarion Admiral in Bergen) had nothing better to offer. The restaurant Enhjørningen is a much better place to enjoy seafood but the wine list is also a rather poor one. Had a Petit Chablis 2003 there - good with seafood but else nothing to report about. Score: 50 + 3 for optic + 11 for bouquet + 14 for taste + 4 for overall = total score of 82. From memory. Not blind. Not decanted. Small generic wine glass

Drink this rather cool at about 16°C, avoid temperatura ambiente above 20°C - then this wine gets really flat and boring. Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 13 for bouquet + 16 for taste + 6 for overall = total score of 89. Not blind. Decanted shortly before tasting. Small ISO standard tasting glass. Bottle count reduced by one
