1992 Freie Weingärtner, Hochinger Kollmitz, Grüner Veltliner Smaragd, Wachau, Niederösterreich, Austria: 91

Optic: Golden yellow, brilliant, some heavy tartaric sediment in the bottom of the bottle.
Bouquet: Clean mature yellow fruit, hit of nuts, mature without a trace of oxidation.
Taste: Medium body, clean yellow fruit, hint of nuts, acidity good masked, good extract, low in tannins. Medium long finish, nice and clean caramelised yellow fruity aftertaste
Overall: This was a treat. It is extraordinary to find such mature bottles of Grüner Veltliner on the wine card, so you have to jump on it

2003 Schwarz, Rot, Zweigelt, Burgenland, Austria: 90

Optic: Black purple, fat tears, tints the glass.
Bouquet: Woody nose, toast, dark fruit.
Taste: Medium full body, very intense very dark fruit, blackberry, strong acidity, silky tannins. Medium long finish, acid dark fruit in the aftertaste.
Overall: 2003 was a really hot summer in Austria - but the red wines are not as chubby as expected. Good match with braised beef shank.
Score: 50 + 5 for optic + 12 for bouquet + 17 for taste + 6 for overall = total score of 90.

1989 Prunotto, Montestefano, Barbaresco, Piedmont, Italy: 94

Optic: Medium garnet, brilliant, fat tears, some sediment.
Bouquet: Sweet mineral touch, velvety tannins.
Taste: Medium body, delicate sweet red fruit, mineral, delicate silky acidity, delicate firm velvety tannins, very well balance. Medium to long finish, silky acidity and velvety tannins in the aftertaste.
Overall: Excellent bottle, prime example for a mature Barbaresco, very satisfying.
Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 14 for bouquet + 18 for taste + 8 for overall = total score of 94.

Hint of cork in the nose. Moldy TCA taste getting worse with each sip.

Optic: Medium ruby, heavy sediment, tartartic sediment.
Bouquet: Some barnyard, nice red fruit.
Taste: Medium to full body, srisp acidity, delicate mature red fruit, velvety tannins, good balance. Medium to long finish, velvety fruity tannins in the aftertaste.
Overall: Great bottle again.

1990 Beaucastel, Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge, Rhône, France: 87

Optic: Medium ruby with orange hue, floating sediment.
Bouquet: Hint of barnyard, resinous, oxidised.
Taste: Medium body, soft acidity, velvety tannins, oxidised fruit, over mature. Medium long finish, sweetish oxidised aftertaste.
Overall: Was a bad bottle, already beyond maturity. Not soo pleasant but still good drinkable.
Score: 50 + 3 for optic + 12 for bouquet + 16 for taste + 6 for overall = total score of 87.

1989 Corino, Vigna Giachini, Barolo, Piedmont, Italy: 94

Optic: Medium garnet, bright, heavy tears, some sediment.
Bouquet: Mature, red fruit, mineral, white truffles ...
Taste: Medium body, mature red fruit, resinous touch, good acidity, excellent balance, palate impregnating silky tannins. Long finish with persistent silky tannins in the aftertaste.
Overall: Excellent bottle again.

2004 Laffitte-Teston, Vieilles Vignes, Madiran, France: 91

Optic: Light purple, brilliant, dense tears.
Bouquet: Clean primary black fruit.
Taste: Medium body, crisp acidity, intense black fruit, blackberries, liquorice, velvety tannins, good balance. Long finish, persistent black pepper tannins in the aftertaste.
Overall: Very primary fruit and rather not so opulent, nice bottle.
Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 13 for bouquet + 17 for taste + 7 for overall = total score of 91.

Optic: Light golden, brilliant, fat tears.
Bouquet: Fat fruity oaky, clean.
Taste: Full body, nice acidity, exotic fruit, black pepper tannins, good balance, slightly fat. Long finish, black pepper tannins and nice fruit in the aftertaste.
Overall: Exotic cuvée of Chardonnay 85%, Grüner Veltliner 10% and Semillion 5%. Wine of interest.
Score: 50 + 5 for optic + 13 for bouquet + 17 for taste + 7 for overall = total score of 92.

2003 Gourt de Mautens, Rasteau rouge, Rhone, France: 88

Optic: Brilliant ruby, light rim, fat tears, some tartaric sediment in the side of the bottle.
Bouquet: Bitter sweet dark nose, bit oaky.
Taste: Full body, hot, unbalanced, dark sweet fruit, strong acidity, harsh tannins. Long finish, bitter hot harsh persistent tannins in the aftertaste.
Overall: Unbalanced, bitter, hot - don't like it very much.

Optic: Light brilliant ruby.
Bouquet: Strong hint of barnyard, resinous.
Taste: Medium body, barnyard, resinous, crisp acidity, velvety tannins, sweetish red fruit. Medium long finish, sweetish fruity tannins in the aftertaste.
Overall: Second not so perfect bottle in a row. Hope this is bad luck

Optic: Bright golden yellow, fat tears.
Bouquet: Hint of lemon, butter and nuts.
Taste: Medium full body, yellow fruit, soft crisp acidity, nice tannins, tad fat. Medium long finish, persistent soft tannins in the aftertaste.
Overall: Nice bottle.
Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 13 for bouquet + 16 for taste + 7 for overall = total score of 90.
