Verkostungsnotiz April 2008:
2000 Artadi, Pagos Viejos, Rioja,
Spain: 94 |
Brilliant dark ruby. Clean fruity
nose, velvety. Medium body, very good acidity, nice fruit, silky tannins,
good balance. Very long finish, nice aftertaste. Delicious. |
2002 Bayer, In Signo Sagittarii,
Blaufränkisch Hochberg, Burgenland, Austria: 89-90 |
2 bottles side by side with some
minor differences. Both medium ruby, bright. One with clean red fruit, other
with a little funky note. Both medium body, soft red fruit, soft velvety
tannins, good balance. Medium long finish, soft red fruity velvety tannins in
the aftertaste. Interesting experiment to have two bottles side by side, some
minor bottle variation. Short note from memory. Not blind.
Decanted shortly before tasting. Generic restaurant Syrahglass. |
1997 Frescobaldi, Montesodi, Chianti Rufina, Tuscany, Italy: 86-89 |
Two bottles at once opened for a
table with more diners to serve with one bottle. First bottle with more brett
in nose and taste as desired, second one rather clean. Decided to decant both
bottles into one decanter with the hope to get a nice average with only a
little of brett - was wrong, got a spoiled second bottle. Medium garnet with
orange hue. Medium to slim body, thin acidity, soft tannins, not so well
balanced. Medium finish, acidic velvety tannins. Will never do this again. |
2000 Artadi, Pagos Viejos, Rioja, Spain: 92 |
Another bottle of this nice wine.
Again brilliant dark ruby and clean fruity velvety nose. In taste more
primary fruit as I remember from last time - therefore nice bottle but not
this great. |
1990 Oberto, Vigneto Rocche, Barolo, Piedmont, Italy: 93 |
Found by chance 2 more bottles of
this wine in my cellar and opened one. Dark garnet, baked sediment. Austere nose,
Barolo classic. Medium body, hint of clean fruit, bit austere
and slightly bitter tannins but not as harsh as I remember it, good acidity,
Barolo classic. Long finish, slightly bitter tannins in the aftertaste. This
time not as match with a salad of young dandelions and now really down to my
last bottle but one of this wine. |
1990 Moccagatta, Bric Balin, Barbaresco, Piedmont, Italy: 92 |
Light garnet, brick note, good
amount of floating sediment. Very mature nose, resinous, spices, lovage.
Medium to slim body (despite 14% alcohol), very good acidity, silky tannins,
hint of red fruit. Long finish, soft persistent tannins. This is very mature
and best drunken rather cool. |
1990 Beaucastel, Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge, Rhône, France: 89 |
Medium ruby with brownish hue,
floating sediment. Hint of barnyard, resinous. Medium body, soft acidity,
velvety tannins, mature fruit, some brett. Medium long finish. Despite the
brett note quite delicious for a snack in the vineyard after some heavy work.
|
2005 Foradori, Teroldego Rotaliano, Trentino, Italy: 89 |
Light ruby, bright. Clean nose,
dark red fruit, spices. Medium body, clean red fruit, some oak, good acidity,
velvety tannins. Medium long finish, velvety tannins in the aftertaste.
Excellent wine combined with food. |
1990 Guigal, Hermitage Rouge, Hermitage, Rhône, France: 91 |
Medium ruby, heavy sediment. Touch
of brett, mature red fruit. Medium body, crisp acidity, mature mellow red
fruit, soft tannins, good balance. Long finish, velvety fruity tannins in the
aftertaste. Quite mature now. |
1999 Macle, Chateau-Chalon, Jura, France: 91 |
Light golden yellow, very bright.
Nose hint of dry sherry and nuts. Medium to slim body (despite 14% alc),
spicy crisp acidity, silky dry finish. Not as great as expected but certainly
a wine of interest. |
