Medium ruby, bright. Clean nose,
dark red fruits. Medium body, dark red fruit, soft acidity, soft tannins.
Medium long finish. Nice wine with food, stand alone not this good.

in nose. Medium to slim body, clean red fruit in taste, good acidity, soft tannins.
Simple wine for dinner, good versatility with food. |
1996 Chapoutier, de l'Oree, Hermitage blanc, Rhone, France: 90 |
Yellow light golden, bright. Soft
exotic fruit in nose. Medium body, yellow fruity, soft acidity, soft tannins,
good balance, tad fat. Good finish, silky tannins in the aftertaste. Bit more
fruity as you would expect from a mature Hermitage. |
2004 Schwarz, Rot, Zweigelt,
Burgenland, Austria: 90 |
Dark ruby, no sediment. Black silky
fruit, clean. Medium body, more fruit as usual for Schwarz, good acidity, velvety
tannins, good balance. Long finish, oak supportet tannins. Gets better in the
glass with room temperature. |
2000 La Rasina, Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy: 90 |
Dark garnet, bright. Nose slightly
dusty. Medium body, red fruit, good acidity, soft velvety tannins. Medium long
finish, clean aftertaste. More in the Rosso di Montalcino league as Brunello
but nice anyway, especially with food. |
2005 Schwarz, Weiß, Burgenland,
Austria: 91 |
Golden yellow, soft nose with nuts
and a hint of butter, full body, soft acidity, soft palate impregnating
tannins, nice finish. Excellent bottle again. |
1997 Chateau Simone, Palette blanc (80% Clairette, 10% Grenache Blanc, 6%
Ugni Blanc, 2% Bourboulene, 2% Muscats Blancs), Grand Cru de Provence,
France: 91 |
Yellow gold, bright, hint of lemon
and dried flowers, medium to slim body, good acidity, herbs and spices, dried
flowers, low fruit in taste, nice finish. Quite better than 1999 vintage. |
1994 Montrose, St. Estephe, Bordeaux, France: 81-87 |
Dark ruby. Brett (4-Ethyl-Phenol).
Slim body, brett in taste, again quite thin in the middle (isovaleric
acidity?). Far from being a pleasure. After 2 days in the open bottle: Brett
gone in nose and taste, bit oxidized, lovage. Still a bit thin in the middle,
but giving more pleasure. So this wine is a candidate for extended decanting
now to be enjoyable.
